A study is to be conducted to survey and establish the different trends regarding the use of the concept of partnership in development cooperation work. The results will be combined into a single product, such as a report, for example, but can also consist of different elements, such as videos, short texts for use in social media, illustrations, etc. The study must be based on recognised research and methods.
Questions that will be answered in the study:
- Which different partnership models are currently used in development cooperation and what defines a well-functioning and successful partnership?
- To what degree and in what way do asymmetrical power relations affect the dynamics of the various partnerships?
- How are power relations approached and handled in different models and by different donors?
- How can Norec promote a constructive dialogue to manage and develop partnerships and power relations?
The assignment will be based on solid, well-documented and approved research. A historical review of the various partnership models in development cooperation in the assistance sector will be given, as well as a description of current partnership models.
The review must be based on research from both the global north and global south. The assignment should also be based on interviews with relevant researchers within the subject area and businesses in the global north and global south. Concrete examples of successful experiences and case studies must be documented and be part of the final product.
The findings from the study will be used in communication and course activities, but the findings will be based on solid and verifiable research methods. The findings are to be presented and/or written in English. The findings must be communicated in plain language.
