The municipality of Belm is planning to expand and rebuild the Belm secondary school (“Johannes Vincke School”).
The subject of this award procedure is the necessary work on the outdoor facilities.
The processing area covers an area of approx. 11,200 m2. The area extends from the entrance area at Heideweg No. 24 (south) to Gustav-Meyer-Weg and creates a connection to the nearby park. The overall concept envisages dividing the schoolyard area into different functional rooms.
The central element is an axis that leads from the entrance area of the new building to the park and is visible through paving strips on the ground. The individual functional rooms are linked to this axis. In the future, there will be lounge areas that are equipped with various seating options such as concrete seating blocks (some with and without wooden cushions) and wooden platforms. The concrete seating blocks can be found as a recurring, but also delimiting design element in the schoolyard and can be used in a variety of ways. Exercise and play areas are occupied by table tennis tables and playground equipment. The concept also provides for complete traffic safety lighting of the property.
The planning envisages a repair of the existing climbing pyramid and a replacement of the fall protection sand. The edging is renewed. In addition, colorful fall protection surfaces are provided for safety-relevant aspects in the area of play possibilities. Furthermore, the overall concept includes the production of small playing fields in the form of a football field with steel goals and a streetball field with a basketball hoop. These plastic fields are given a corresponding line. In the area of the small football pitch there is a height difference of approx. 50 cm to the planned axis. The difference in height is absorbed at this point with concrete seat blocks. These also serve as a border for the play area and can be used as seating. In the area of the "cake" a climbing wall with boulder grips will be installed. This is intended to represent the completion of the part of the building. Here, too, there is a coloured plastic inlay as fall protection.
The vegetative edge areas of the property are being revised. Growths and seedlings of the shrub plantings are cleared to clean up the areas. In some places, topsoil is covered and new plants are introduced.
