The Scottish Public Pensions Agency (SPPA) is an Agency of the Scottish Government. Its' principal role is to administer the pensions, premature retirement and injury benefit schemes for employees of the National Health Service in Scotland (NHSSS) and for members of the Scottish Teachers' Superannuation Scheme (STSS). This existing service will be extended by April 2015 to include the 2 Firefighters Pension Schemes and 2 Police Pension Schemes in Scotland.
The number of active members for each of the schemes is currently as follows:
— NHSSS circa 164 000;
— STSS circa 79 000;
— Firefighters Scheme 4 000;
— Police Scheme 17 000.
The number of deferred members is as follows:
— NHSSS circa 57 000;
— STSS circa 16 000;
— Firefighters Scheme 520;
— Police Scheme 2 000.
The number of pensioners is as follows:
— NHSS circa 83 000;
— STSS circa 68 000;
— Firefighters Scheme 4 000;
— Police Scheme 15 000.
The SPPA is seeking to procure an integrated software solution which supports a key objective of the Agency to transform the Customer Experience. The solution must have the necessary functionality to cover the entire pensions life cycle, which includes pensions administration and payroll and digital services for scheme members, deferred members and pensioners (Customers).
