In preparation for the upgrading and new construction of the polder dikes in the course of the construction of the controlled flooding polder near Außig on the Elbe, archaeological excavations of stage I of the State Office for Archaeology are to be carried out on the future dike access areas and on all areas on which soil interventions are carried out in the context of development and construction work or other measures associated with soil interventions.

Earthworks

- Explosive ordnance detection by means of surface probing

- Removal of the upper soil layers to the archaeologically relevant level (mostly the grown soil)

- lateral storage of the removed topsoil

- Topsoil application and restoration of the terrain to its original state
