Extension and conversion of primary school Mehlingen

Architectural services according to HOAI § 34 ff, service phases 1-8.

The Mehlingen primary school is located in the center of the municipality of Mehlingen and currently comprises 2 buildings on the main development streets “Hauptstraße” and “Ludwigstraße” with the addition of “Eckstraße”. These two structures are, on the one hand, the “historic schoolhouse” on the main street from 1900, which is listed as a cultural monument, and on the other hand a second building as a supplementary building on Ludwig and Eckstraße built in 2000.

The space program of the Mehlingen primary school, which is currently depicted in the two existing structures, was and is - more or less - designed for dual use, but only partially meets this, and sometimes with severe restrictions.

Due to the positive development of student numbers, which can also be seen in the current school development plan of the district of Kaiserslautern, the Mehlingen primary school will be run as a three-course primary school in the medium and long term. In order to (provisionally) compensate for the already acute shortage of space and space, 2 classrooms were arranged in the school yard by building a 2-storey, temporary container system.
