Construction of a new Audimax

The Westphalian University (WH) is planning to build a new Audimax at the Gelsenkirchen site. In addition to the Audimax, the building will also include a senate hall, seminar rooms and sports rooms with a usable area of 1,510 m² (NUF 1-6). A corresponding assessment of needs has been made.

The construction and real estate company of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (BLB NRW) owns almost all properties in the state and rents its properties to state authorities and institutions. This also includes the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences, which is supported by the BLB NRW from the Münster branch. Accordingly, the property on which the building is to be erected is owned by BLB NRW.

In this project “Building a New Audimax”, the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences will act as the client. For this purpose, the property is to be added to the existing university lease agreement and a license agreement is to be concluded. The property is currently being used by WH as a parking area and is within the scope of a valid development plan that defines a special area for the planned area with the purpose of university.

Following the results of the preliminary economic analysis from 2020, the project will be implemented as part of a PPP implementation.

The object of the contract is the awarding of the PPP contract to a PPP partner who plans, builds the project and assumes maintenance and quantity guarantees for energy and media over a period of 25 years. The project must meet requirements for sustainability and innovative strength. The PPP project is designed as an owner model so that ownership of the properties remains with the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences or BLB NRW.
