During the planned three-year project period, extensive stocks of marine data from the BfN are to be transferred to the GDI. BfN and thus made available in a quality-assured manner. The EEZ project has the task of further developing the spatial data infrastructure for the internal and public provision of BfN's own monitoring and mapping data for the German North Sea and Baltic Sea. The results serve as a technical and scientific basis for the fulfilment of the BfN's enforcement tasks in the German EEZ of the North Sea and Baltic Sea in accordance with § 6 in conjunction with § 56 et seq. BNatSchG. The results are also the basis for fulfilling the reporting obligations in marine nature conservation, which exist under the Birds Directive (Art. 12 VRL), the Habitats Directive (Art. 11 and 17 of the Habitats Directive) and the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (Art. 8, 9, 10 and 11 MSFD) of the EU. Regular annual data deliveries from other BfN marine projects are to be continuously implemented in the existing data models. The new project to be put out to tender is intended to tie in seamlessly with the current state of development in terms of time and content and to integrate further data and data types into the SDI. BfN and provide extensive support during implementation. On the basis of the results of the current project, it is further developing the necessary spatial data infrastructure for the internal and public provision of BfN's own monitoring and mapping data for the German North Sea and Baltic Sea and is further expanding the developed system for data storage.
