Rail Settlement Plan Limited (RSP) is a company owned by the UK Train Operating Companies (TOCs). RSP provides and manages on behalf of TOCs a number of shared services, ranging from the provision of ticket stock to the allocation of industry revenue.
RSP is currently working with the TOCs to provide a “smart ticketing” infrastructure at stations in the South East of England.
Central to the operation of the “smart ticketing system” is the HOPS which shall interface with thousands of devices including gates, validators, ticket machines and handheld devices. The HOPS will be compliant with ITSO 2.1.4 (or above) and RSPS 3002 (as amended).
The TMS will be the primary source of information for customer support functionality and will hold data communicated in principle from the HOPS so a prime requirement is communication capability with the HOPS. It must also be capable of communication with various portals, including those owned and/or operated by TOCs and third parties. Access to the TMS will be internet based and the TMS must be configurable to allow a matrix of access rights based on the requestor profile.
