Public transport (ÖPNV) plays a central role in the sustainable mobility transition. To reduce environmental burdens and CO2 emissions, the introduction of low-emission and climate-friendly bus drives is being promoted. Battery electric buses represent a promising alternative to conventional diesel buses. They are locally emission-free and thus contribute to improving air quality in cities and communities. Furthermore, they are significantly quieter than diesel buses, leading to reduced noise pollution.
Moreover, public transport companies are required by the EU's "Clean Vehicle Directive" (CVD) and the "Clean Vehicles Procurement Act" (SaubFahrzeugBeschG), which has been in effect in Germany since June 2021, to comply with binding minimum targets for the procurement of vehicles with alternative drives. This is particularly important for the procurement of buses for public transport.
This transition requires that with the introduction of battery electric buses in public transport at EW Bus GmbH in Eichsfeld, a subsidiary of Eichsfeldwerke, a corresponding optimized charging infrastructure is provided. The goal of the tender is to create an efficient and scalable charging infrastructure with coordinated transformer technology.
An efficient public transport system can only function with high-quality, tailored charging infrastructure. For this reason, EW Bus GmbH - referred to as the contracting authority - is issuing a tender for a scalable and standardized charging solution.

LOT-0001 EW-Bus_LIS25
Planning and Construction of a Charging Infrastructure -LIS - Including Transformer for Regional Bus Loading.
EW Bus GmbH - referred to as the contracting authority - plans to gradually transition the regional bus fleet to emission-free drive technologies starting in 2026. In this context, EW Bus GmbH is tendering, in the first expansion phase, the planning and construction of a charging infrastructure (LIS) including central energy storage with charging points for depot charging of 4 standard line buses for regional services with battery electric drives (1st step).
The completion and acceptance of the facility must be finalized by December 11, 2026.
This contract encompasses not only the technical facilities of the LIS but also the training of the staff at EW Bus GmbH as well as the maintenance and repair of the entire system (from acceptance with a duration until the contractually agreed expiration of the statute of limitations for defect claims).
The performance obligations to be fulfilled by the contractor can be found in the price sheet as well as the performance description with all attachments. Bids must be submitted based on the mentioned documents.
