Today, Aars District Heating is primarily supplied with heat from the waste plant (furnace 1 + furnace 2), in addition to peak supply with wood pellets and gas, as well as a smaller electric boiler.
In addition to Aars, Aars District Heating also supplies Haverslev, Suldrup and Hornum with district heating.

Aars District Heating wants to close down their current waste furnace 1 and instead establish an air heat pump. When combined with waste furnace 2, the power production from this can be utilized by the heat pump. In addition, it is offered as an option for this that the supply of heat pump can
utilize the heat from furnace 2's flue gas as a heat source. In addition to the air heat pump, an electric boiler will also be established, as well as a wood chip boiler with absorption heat pump. It is offered as an option for the tender that the air heat pump can supply low temperature heat to the absorption heat pump.
The waste plant is covered by the CO 2 quota scheme, when kiln 1 is closed down, the fossil capacity of the plot becomes less than 20 MW, which is why Aars District Heating falls below the limit of the CO2 quota scheme.
Realisation of the project will also improve the plant's operating economy and increase the multi-rigoured nature of the plant, reducing dependence on a fuel, as well as ensuring reserve load capacity.
Overall plan for Aars Varmeværk:
- Oven 1 closed
- Oven 2 summer closed
- 10 MW Fliskedel with absorption heat pump + associated building
- Approx. 7 MW air heating at 8 degree C air level + associated building
- Option 1: utilization of flue gas heat from Furnace 2 as a heat source
- Option 2: production of low temperature heat for absorption heat pump.
- 10 MW Elkedel
- 8.000 m 3 akkumuleringstank
Prior to this tender, project proposals have been prepared in accordance with the Heat Supply Act.
Project proposals are expected to be approved prior to contracting.
