Description:

Birmingham City Council are seeking for organisations for inclusion on a framework agreement for the provision of Specialist Adult Social Care Training to support the Councils Learning and Development Service in delivering learning programmes related to the lots detailed below:

Lot 1 Social Work (Assessment and Support Planning)

Lot 2 Mental Health

Lot 3 Social Care and Health

Lot 4 Leadership and Management regarding intervention

Lot 5 Safeguarding

The contract will be for a period of 3 years with an option to extend for a further period of 1 year subject to satisfactory performance.


Social Work — Assessment and Support Planning

A range of learning and development activity to meet the learning and development of the 750 social care and social work workforce in the Assessment and Support Planning Service. The learning and development activity provided must meet national and local standards as well as any legislative requirements around social work practice. Commissioned activity include tailored classroom based courses in response to legislative change, bespoke learning activity to meet the identified needs of specific groups or teams, for example, team development days.


Mental Health

A range of learning and development activities in relation to mental health. Activities vary and have a range of target audiences. Some activity is specific to professional roles in supporting people who may be experiencing mental ill-health whilst others are general awareness programmes for partner agencies, users of services and their carers. Typical examples of the types of learning and development range from the delivery of standard classroom based courses, bespoke learning and development with various staff, conference presentation and workshop involvement, development of e-learning and the development of learning materials to support the social care workforce.


Social Care and Health

Specialist Care Services has a workforce of approximately 1 400 people. Typical examples of the types of learning and development range from the delivery of: standard classroom based courses; the development of bespoke packages; e-learning; and accredited programmes. Examples include: First Aid, Hydration Nutrition and Diet; Sexual Health and Relationships; Travel Training; Enablement; Dementia; Enhanced Enablement and Advance People Handling.


Leadership and Management

A wide range of learning and development activity to meet the needs of leaders and managers in adult social care. Typical examples of the types of learning and development range from the delivery of standard class room based courses, bespoke learning and development, workshops, bite-size programmes, e-learning, master class sessions and leadership and management network events, examples include; Preparing for CQC Inspection Workshops, Moving into Management and Conducting Effective Supervision short course programmes.


Safeguarding

Safeguarding duties apply to any adult who has needs for care and support (whether or not the local authority is meeting any of those needs) and is experiencing, or at risk of, abuse or neglect; and as a result of those care and support needs is unable to protect themselves from either the risk of, or the experience of abuse or neglect.
