In the wake of the flood disaster in July 2021, the school center in Sinzig was also affected. Located near the Ahr, several schools, a canteen and two gymnasiums were flooded. One of them is the Rudi Altig sports hall. At that time she was over 2 meters under water. The damage can be traced back to the masonry and elementary constructions. For example, the hall was gutted in an immediate measure and then had it examined for washed up bacteria and suspended solids. The sports hall is now to be refurbished as part of the reconstruction. In order to allow school operations to resume as early as possible, the project will be divided into two construction phases. The first will deal with the interior fittings of the sports hall and in the second, all ancillary rooms including the changing rooms will be renovated.
