1.The subject of the contract is the service of supplementing the state of knowledge and monitoring of the conservation status of migrating populations of cereal geese and white-fronted goose in the Natura 2000 Dolina Samicy PLB300013
2.A detailed description of the subject of the contract is attached as Annex 1 to the SWZ.
The subject of the contract is to supplement the state of knowledge and monitor the conservation status of migrating populations of cereal goose and white-fronted goose in the Natura 2000 Dolina Samicy PLB300013 site.
1.The subject of the order includes:
(a)determination of the abundance and distribution of geese in a Natura 2000 site;
(b)an analysis of the impact of hunting within the lodging grounds of geese on their conservation status in a Natura 2000 site;
(c)assessing the quality and importance of feeding grounds and resting places to maintain a favourable conservation status of geese within a radius of at least 5 km from the lodging house;
(d)carrying out an assessment of the conservation status of the bird species concerned.
2.Surveys of overnight geese in a Natura 2000 site shall be carried out on ANS75 designated for the purposes of State Environmental Monitoring
as part of the Goose Lodging Monitoring programme. Surface inspections should be carried out in accordance with the methodology: Sikora A., Chylarecki P., Meissner W., Neubauer G. (eds.) 2011. Monitoring of wetland birds during migrations. Methodological guide. GDOŚ, Warsaw. Checks should be carried out every 14 days between 30 September 2023 and 31 March 2024. Geese should be counted on the accommodation every morning and evening on Saturday and Sunday. During the counting, the dates on which the hunt took place in the immediate vicinity of the accommodation should be recorded and any bird behavior that may result from the hunt should be recorded.
On the basis of the collected data on changes in the number of geese at the lodging site, an analysis of the impact of hunting on birds should be carried out. The Contractor is obliged to obtain detailed information from the Polish Hunting Association on hunting dates
in the immediate vicinity of the accommodation.
3.The significance of the quality of feeding grounds and daily resting places shall be assessed on the basis of data collected during observation of potential feeding grounds for geese. Counting of birds in feeding grounds should be carried out at least once during each cycle of counting geese at the shelter (every 14 days). Observations of geese in feeding grounds should be carried out throughout the day from the departure of birds from the shelters until their return. The inventory should cover all potential feeding grounds – grassland and arable fields within a radius of min. 5 km from the accommodation. During the observation, the number of individual flocks and the type of feeding ground selected should be recorded. All observation sites should be charted. It is recommended to make an inventory of feeding grounds for min. 2 people independently penetrating the search area.
Based on the data collected, the quality and significance of the used and potential forages should be eradicated. Additionally, the Contracting Authority requires an analysis of the need to enlarge Natura 2000 area with key foraging of the female valley geese and propose a possible new border of the area.
4.Na basis of the test results, the Contractor shall determine the area of geese habitats and prepare a vector layer in .shp format showing their distribution. It is mandatory to define and determine the area of the shelter, the area of key feeding grounds for geese and to determine the minimum area of each habitat type necessary to maintain a favourable conservation status of the objects of protection.
