ABS Gäubahn, North Section; Preservation of Evidence Water Phase 1 - 3
As part of the ABS Stuttgart – Singen – D/CH border project, Deutsche Bahn AG is planning the expansion of railway line 4860 (Stuttgart-Horb) with a connection to Stuttgart Airport - Long-Distance Railway Station. The connection is to be realized by a new tunnel, which is referred to as the Pfaffensteig tunnel. The twin-tube tunnel threads out of the East Airport Tunnel at the eastern exit of the Stuttgart Airport long-distance railway station to the Stuttgart Ulm NBS, swings west east of the A8 motorway and runs in a westerly direction to the south of the Sindelfingen Ost junction of the A81 motorway. Here, the crossing-free connection to the existing line of the Gäubahn is planned above ground. The necessary adaptation of the existing line extends to the Böblingen-Goldberg station.
In the project area, the preservation of water evidence includes the measurement of free and tense groundwater levels in groundwater monitoring points, the taking and analysis of water samples and the execution of runoff measurements, including documentation and integration of the data into a given database system.
