Description:
Provision of Emergency Medical Cover to Boscombe Down

The contractor is to provide emergency medical airfield cover to include the provision of pre-hospital emergency care and treatment. This shall be provided by 1 x Health Care Professional Council (HCPC) registered paramedic and 1 x Institute of Healthcare and Development (IHCD) ambulance technician or equivalent level and to include the provision of an a fully equipped trauma all-terrain patient carrying vehicle, at MOD Boscombe Down.

Requirement:

The contractor is to provide emergency medical airfield cover to include the provision of pre-hospital emergency care and treatment. This shall be provided by 1 x Health Care Professional Council (HCPC) registered paramedic and 1 x Institute of Healthcare and Development (IHCD) ambulance technician or equivalent level and to include the provision of an a fully equipped trauma all-terrain patient carrying vehicle, at MOD Boscombe Down.

Within 10 minutes of an emergency call the contractor will provide pre-Hospital emergency medical cover to preserve lives as safely as possible by providing triage, live-saving first aid, basic life support and advanced life support, until the casualties can receive the advanced trauma response and onward casualty transfer provided through the NHS ambulance service. In conjunction with the fire service and under the command of the fire master. This provision shall cover airfield incidents, off-site incidents and domestic incidents on Boscombe Down.

Quantity: 240 days a year of which, 104 Working days (excluding Fridays) can be extended to cover night flying operations with 24 hours’ notice to the contractor. A maximum of 700 hours per year in addition to the 240 workings days and weekend stated above can be provided, with no more than 65 hours in any 1 calendar month. The hours associated with night operations are part of these 700 hours.

Contract term: 3 years

Options: the authority reserves the right, at its sole discretion to extend the contract for a period of up to 24 months.
