Repair, maintenance and associated services related to aircraft and other equipment. The Air Commodities Team, part of the UK Ministry of Defence intends to place a contract with Atlantic Inertial Systems Ltd for Instrument Support Services for a period of 3 years commencing 1.7.2013.

It is considered that this contract can be placed using the negotiated procedure without prior publication pursuant to Article 28(1)(e) of Directive 2009/81/EC (Regulation 16(1)(a)(ii) of the Defence and Security Public Contracts Regulations 2011) for technical reasons. The equipment which this support contract concerns came into service during the late 1960's and 1970's and has been supported and maintained by Atlantic Inertial Systems Ltd throughout. It is considered that only AIS Ltd has the specialist expertise including technical knowledge, tooling and test equipment which is necessary to support the avionic instruments within the contract. The MOD does not hold any drawings or data packs associated with this equipment in order to enable the requirement to be competed.
