- General description:

On the federally owned property Stresemannstrasse / Erna-Berger-Strasse / Niederkirchnerstrasse in the Mitte district of Berlin, a new extension building including the outdoor facilities is to be planned for the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), which will also serve as a federal lighthouse project for sustainable construction should.

Office space for use by other federal ministries and the Berlin House of Representatives is also to be planned on the property. The sponsor and sponsor is the Federal Real Estate Agency (BImA). The aim is to compact the property so that maximum utilization can be achieved.

There are a total of approx. 29,600 m 2 Usable space (NF) for office space including canteen, conference area and library as media information center (MIZ) planned in the new building.

The extension should act as an exemplary federal project for sustainable construction. For this reason, the quality level gold of the Federal Assessment System for Sustainable Building (BNB) can be achieved for the building. A minimum level of silver (BNB) is to be striven for for the new outdoor facilities. As far as the location of the building plot makes it possible, the aim should be to largely reduce the energy requirements of the building and to generate as much energy as possible on site.

The comfort conditions to be created in the building should be achieved naturally. This means that robust, low-maintenance, structural solutions are preferable to technical solutions. Technical solutions should only be used if this is not possible (low-tech approach). Particular attention should be paid to reducing the operating and usage costs of the property.
