The Province of Limburg regularly needs the temporary hiring or secondment of external persons. This is the case, for example, if:
- a temporary expansion of the existing staff capacity is required (e.g. in case of a high workload within a cluster);
- a temporary replacement of provincial employees is required (for example, in case of illness or pregnancy);
- certain specific expertise is required, which is lacking within the official organization.
To meet this need, the province uses a DAS.
The activities covered by the further assignments are divided into various categories.

Candidates may apply for admission to the categories in which they are interested. As soon as an assignment is placed in one or more categories, all candidates admitted to that category(s) will receive an invitation to compete for that assignment. Admission to the DAS therefore does not constitute an assignment, nor can a candidate derive any rights to contracts from it.
