The stoma/colorectal Specialist Nurse team is based at UHCW NHS Trust, providing services to both Coventry and rugby hospitals as well as providing a community service visiting patients in their own home. The nurse specialist in the team are specialists in colorectal cancer and stoma care. The nurse specialist team provide a stoma care service to all patients (Ileostomy, Colostomy and Urostomy) who are referred to the service. Patients are offered a pre-operative discussion either in their own home or at the hospital and are sited for surgery and seen daily for teaching whilst in hospital by a member of our team. On discharge patients are visited at home within 10 days of discharge. Patients are then invited to attend stoma clinic, however if they are housebound further home visits will be offered between Monday and Friday. 3 stoma clinics are held every week, 2 at UHCW and one at St Cross Hospital in Rugby.
