The city of Heerlen aspires to a new museum building for its Roman bathhouse, which should also become an icon for the Roman quarter and the city center of Heerlen. The current museum building no longer meets the climate requirements to properly preserve the Roman bathhouse (national monument). In order to house the museum's collections, including the bathhouse, and loans from renowned museums, a new museum building is needed that meets contemporary museum requirements for climate, security, furnishing, management and presentations.
