See II.2.4
This call for tenders concerns the design, manufacture, supervision of the installation and commissioning of a pump for the hydraulic qualification of its components in contact with the fluid, geometrically similar to those of the MYRRHA primary pump under representative conditions. The ADS MYRRHA project of the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre (SCK CEN) aims to design, build and operate a lead-bismuth cooled fast neutron reactor driven by an accelerator. It will be used for a variety of purposes, including the demonstration of accelerator-driven reactor (or ADS) and lead-bismuth cooled fast reactor systems, which will achieve a reasonable balance between demonstration, testing and research aspects on various medical and nuclear points of interest. The primary pumps of the ADS MYRRHA have the function of ensuring a stable circulation of the LBE coolant in the primary system (core and primary heat exchangers) of the reactor and therefore require a demonstration of all aspects concerning the hydraulic and safety performance of the primary pumps. SCK CEN takes the next step by designing a test loop for the experimental hydraulic qualification of a prototype scale of such a primary pump circulating in the LBE. The potential purchase of the ADS MYRRHA primary pumps, based on the optimized design after the successful completion of testing on the small-scale prototype model, will be subject to a separate tendering procedure.
