The management of the ship includes the operation, administration and maintenance, including all related work, which is necessary in the context of careful and proper maintenance and operational readiness of the ship.

Areas of application of the ship:

- to combat marine pollution in the entire German coastal area, primarily in the Baltic Sea region;

- In the context of international obligations, operations in the sea areas of the neighboring countries are also possible;

- as part of technical assistance, especially in the area of maritime emergency preparedness.
