The RVK is planning to build a "Training and Further Education Centre for Climate Neutral and Digital Mobility" (AWM). The focus is on the expansion of a digital and sustainable local transport infrastructure with the four building blocks: the construction of an education center, the construction of a filling station infrastructure for alternative drive technologies (hydrogen, biomethane, battery electrics), the construction of a driving safety and test site for heavy goods traffic and autonomous driving as well as a "competence center for public transport" (with operating area, repair and training facilities).
With the present construction tender, the planning and construction of the filling station for alternative drive technologies is to be awarded, whereby the present construction contract includes the construction of the hydrogen filling station as well as the preparatory construction of infrastructures for the subsequent addition of biomethane and battery electrics to the filling station. However, the subsequent expansion of the hydrogen filling station to include refuelling facilities for biomethane and battery electrics themselves is not part of the order.
The RVK plans to build a "training and further education center for climate-neutral and digital mobility" (AWM) on a total area of about 50,000 square meters (possibly expansion area of about 14,000 square meters).
Components of the AWM are the four building blocks:
- an educational centre with a total area of approx. 1,500 sqm and a maximum height of four storeys,
- a publicly accessible filling station area for alternative propulsion technologies (hydrogen, bio-methane, battery electrics),
- a driving safety or test site for heavy goods traffic and autonomous driving with a (expected) area of approx. 100m x 245m,
- a "public transport competence centre" with a bus workshop for up to 100 vehicles with alternative drive systems and a learning workshop.
The subject of the present tender is the planning and construction of the filling station for alternative drive technologies, funded by the Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport (BMDV), whereby the present construction contract includes the construction of the hydrogen filling station as well as the preparatory construction of infrastructures for the subsequent addition of biomethane and battery electrics to the filling station. However, the subsequent expansion of the hydrogen filling station to include refuelling facilities for biomethane and battery electrics themselves is not part of the order. For a more detailed description of the requirements, a draft version of the specifications is available under https://www.subreport.de/E25243485. The focus is on the hydrogen tank infrastructure, including an electrolyser. Key points are in particular:
- Minimum power for launch is 1.5 megawatts; Expandability to 3 megawatts must be ensured in terms of planning. An expansion to 3 megawatts becomes part of the order as an option.
- Minimum production volume of hydrogen/day at 5000 full load hours per year is 360 kg H2.
- Intermediate storage shall be provided for at least 380 kg H2.
- Achievable minimum purchase quantity (from electrolysis, trailer delivery, etc.) = 640 kg H2/day
- At least 6 dispensers, of which 3 for hydrogen - 2x 350 bar and 1x 700 bar as well as 3 - to be secured within the scope of the present contract only by planning and to prepare them infrastructurally - for later gas refuelling
- The plant must be designed in such a way that it does not fall under the Major Accidents Ordinance; Storage of H2 therefore not higher than 5 tons.
- There are interfaces with the other sub-areas, which is why intensive and early coordination with the other project participants is necessary.
