Boreal Bane AS is a public transport company with approx. 60 employees and is an operator of tracks. The company runs, amongst other things, Gråkallbanen in Trondheim, which is the world's northernmost tramway. The tracks extends from the centre of town at 10 m above sea level to Lian at 240 m above sea level. The steepest climb is 40:1000 (4 %).
The turning triangle Ila, with the accompanying rails, points and rails crossing in a curve, Ilevollen north western corner of Ilaparken shall be renewed in summer 2018.
The renewal includes both roadway, edge lines, substructure, rails and other super structures. The stretch is approx. 65 m long, has a double track and turning triangle, so the total track length that shall be replaced is approx. 175 m.
The site area for the measures is marked on the attached map, see annexes 11, 16, 17 and 18.
Climbing points shall also be procured and assembled in order to divert the tram past the site work.
The site period will start 25 June and it shall be completed by 12 August at the latest.
Prerequisites.
1. The assignment shall be carried out in 3 stages (cf. annex 11 Track Arrangements):
Stage 1 (Incoming track):
Replacement of the inner curve with points, including assembly of climbing points, excavation, removal of matter, filling in, concrete work and laying rails.
Stage 2 (Outgoing track):
Replacement of the outer curve with points and rails crossing, including moving climbing points, excavation, removal of matter, filling in, concrete work, laying rails and improvements to the edge line, asphalting and pointing with elastic joint filler for the areas affected by stages 1 and 2.
Excavation, removal of matter, filling in, concrete work and laying points in the turning triangle are also to be carried out and, in addition, climbing points shall be disassembled and removed.
Stage 3 (Side tracks):
Replacement of the rails in the turning track (on both sides of the points), as well as improvements to the edge line, asphalting and pointing with elastic joint filler.
Note!
— The order of stage 1 and stage 2 can be changed during the planning phase,
— The interface between stage 3 and the prior stage must be decided in detail whilst the work is ongoing,
— Pointing with elastic joint filler can be excluded if a decision is made to use form-cast joint filler. Form-cast joint filler is delivered and glued to the edge of the rail head by Boreal Bane AS and is, therefore, not included in the delivery.
2. Traffic closures:
Ilevollen is to be closed for bus and road traffic in the site period for stages 1 and 2. Normal tram traffic will be in operation on both the incoming and outgoing tracks during stage 3. Buses will be diverted to other streets.
The trams will run on the parallel track to the track that is being worked on during stages 1 and 2. The contact wire above the closed track will be disconnected and have no electricity in the site area.
The traffic management plan for the area is to be prepared by the contractor and the terms here will be a part of the prerequisites for the execution.
The work that will prevent buses driving through Ilevollen is to be carried out as quickly as possible and it must be completed by 12.8.2018.
3. Sør-Trøndelag County has consented that, during the site work, normal care and notification duties are to be exercised as regards cultural memorials in the ground.
4. Development of tracks and the substructure, as shown in the drawing in annex 12.
5. The tenderer must coordinate the work with Boreal Bane AS, so that Boreal can carry out its work with track laying, assembling climbing points and the contact wire network during the site period.
6. The track will be in ordinary operation during stage 3.
7. Description of the stretches: See the tender documentation.
Scope.
The work consists of 11 assignments:
1) Surveying.
2) Assembly of climbing points on the tracks on both sides of the site area.
3) Excavation, removal of matter and development of new foundations.
4) Development of new concrete foundations
5) Laying tracks.
6) Delivery of rails and rail material, including climbing points.
7) Inspections, surveying and adjustment of track geometry.
8) Sheathing and reinforcement for rammed concrete.
9) Inspection of rail geometry and cambers.
10) Preparation and filling in concrete.
11) Filling in and commissioning edge lines, asphalting and finishing top cover.
12) Pointing with elastic joint filler between the rails and top cover (can be excluded in form-cast joint filler is chosen).
See the tender documentation for further information on the procurement.
