Renovation and redesign of the park
Upper Woehrder See
Landscape architecture services
Construction stages 2 to 5.
The following initial situation exists for the planned measures for the renewal of the park facilities at Oberen Wöhrder See: The green areas at Oberen Wöhrder See were developed in the 1980s as part of the redesign of the Pegnitz in a lake landscape into a park-like recreational landscape. At a later point in time, some of the bank areas, which gained new importance for nature conservation with the increased growth of trees, were designated as natural areas with priority for the development of nature and the landscape. Today the park is used intensively for recreational use and popular sports. As part of the planned extensive water management measures in the lake landscape, there are also major interventions in the bank areas. In addition, in addition to the recreational function of the Upper Wöhrder Lake, its importance for nature conservation is to be strengthened. As part of an already existing master plan, implementation is planned as follows: The overall concept provides for the existing structures of the park to be preserved and to be further developed through targeted interventions and measures. In the network of paths, the steep connections from the riverside path up the hillside into the city are to be flattened and made more accessible. The main route of the southern bank path will be relocated to another - already existing - route in some areas in order to minimize the disturbance in the natural areas on the bank. At the underpass under the river road, a more generous and barrier-free connection is to be created through the construction of a footbridge over the branch of the Pegnitz. The intensively designed sections of the park are differentiated according to potential and user pressure, either extensively or intensified, so that, on the one hand, the requirements of nature conservation are taken into account and, on the other hand, the possible uses are improved. Targeted clearing of some bank areas enables new views of the lake and makes the water surfaces easier to experience. By means of further, predominantly selective measures, special scenic locations are staged and the park design is further strengthened. Construction phase 1 is already being planned and should be implemented in 2021. As part of the award procedure, the planning and implementation of construction sections 2 to 5 in a planned period from 2021 to 2025 are to be awarded in one package. The cost volume of these construction phases amounts to approx. 7.56 million EUR over the KGR 100-700 as a rough cost framework as of the middle of 2019. Cost estimation and cost calculation are part of the order. The area to be planned for construction sections 2-5 is around 276 600 m
