The City of Rovaniemi will put out to tender the planning and implementation of the Rovaniemi City Hall renovation project with a single procurement. Rovaniemi City Hall is part of the Rovaniemi Cultural and Administrative Centre, completed in 1988. The City Hall was designed by architect Alvar Aalto based on sketches by Alvar Aalto & Co. Elissa Architects under the direction of Aalto. Rovaniemi City Hall is a culturally and historically valuable building and a masterpiece of local work. City Hall has been in its original use since completion.

The project is a renovation that includes a complete overhaul of the building services. The preliminary scope of the project is approximately 13,000 m2. The project will be implemented using the alliance model.
