The E16 Gudvanga Tunnel and Fretheim Tunnel shall be upgraded and improved in order to meet the current requirements/expected standards.

The upgrading is divided in 2:

— This contract is for blasting new rock rooms for technical buildings etc.

— The next contract is for upgrades/new installations of electro and Automation and Control System.

The total construction period for the entire upgrade is estimated to approx. 2,5 years from 2016 to 2018.

The average annual daily traffic through the E 16 Gudvang Tunnel and Fretheim Tunnel is approx 2 000 vehicles.

The percentage of heavy motor vehicles is approx. 26 %

Below is a list of the main elements included in the contract for blasting new rock rooms for technical buildings etc.:

— Six niches for technical buildings, T 8.5, approx. 30 metres long in the Gudvanga Tunnel

— One niche for technical buildings, T 8.5, approx. 30 metres long in the Fretheim Tunnel

— 50 000 m3 solid masses from scaling after blasting.

— Securing with shotcrete 5 530 m3

— Expansion of emergency lay-bys, 6

— 16 000 support bolts

— Traffic management, 290 days and nights.

Traffic management:

— Convoys from 20:00-06:00

The project will be carried out on the basis of drawings.
