The St. Pauli Elbtunnel was built between 1907 and 1911 and consists of 2 parallel tunnel tubes of approx. 426.5 m in length, the shaft buildings on the north side of St. Pauli and the south side of Steinwerder, as well as the Steinwerder company building. The tunnels were built using the shield tunneling method and consist of steel tubbings with a concrete inner shell. In the area of the walls and the vault this was covered with tiles. Each tunnel has a lane of asphalt and two side walkways. The building has been a listed building since 2003.
Rising amounts of leakage water and associated moisture damage as well as the required adaptation of the technical equipment of the structure made a repair necessary. Since 1994, a comprehensive renovation program is running. The rehabilitation of the shaft building and the operating building as well as the rehabilitation of the east tunnel is almost completed. Now the basic repair of the western tube is started.
The subject of the present call for tenders is the site supervision for construction of the St. Pauli Elbtunnel site - 5th construction phase (BA) Weströhre.
The aim of the repair of the western tunnel tube is the adherence to the specified deadline and cost framework as well as the adherence to the quality according to the state of the art under observation of the monument protection regulations.
The following services are to be provided by the local construction supervision:
- Construction supervision of demolition work, tunnel inner shell,
- construction supervision of the tubbing rehabilitation,
- Construction supervision of the new construction of the tunnel inner shell.
The work (especially demolition and rehabilitation) is located in a pollutant-contaminated environment or requires the handling of hazardous substances. Furthermore, the necessary work processes to be observed during the expansion must be taken into account.
For the implementation of the project Basic restoration St. Pauli Elbtunnel - 5.BA Weströhre federal funding is granted.
