JRC-Karlsruhe plans to purchase mobile radiation detection equipment in order to support training through the European Nuclear Security Training Centre (Eusectra) in the area of detection and response to the illicit trafficking of nuclear and other radioactive material.
The equipment is intended to be used in front line officer (security, military, police and customs) and mobile expert team trainings to complement the radiation detection equipment and meet the needs of the field operative.
The equipment to be supplied includes:
mobile spectrometric detection and identification system.
The mobile spectrometric detection and identification system is intended for simultaneous detection, localisation and identification of nuclear and other radioactive materials and also for environmental monitoring. Such a system typically consists of modular gamma and neutron detectors that can be carried by any vehicle.
