Sätra waterworks produces drinking water for the Gävle distribution area. Today's preparation consists of pH adjustment with lye and chlorine dosage as well as UV light as a microbial barrier. Sampling of PFAS substances in the wells belonging to the distribution area has shown concentrations above the Swedish National Food Agency's new limit values for PFAS 4 and PFAS 21.
The goal of the project is to install a new preparation step to reduce the PFAS content so that in outgoing drinking water it is below the Swedish National Food Agency's new limit values for: PFAS 4: 4 ng / l PFAS 21: 100 ng / l.
