The object of procurement is a high resolution LC-MS/MS mass spectrometer which can be used for screening, identification and quantification of components of complex mixtures from different food matrices. The device will be used for screening and quantification of contaminants and environmental toxins in food and feed as well those in tissues from production animals and wild animals. The contaminants and toxins include for example pesticide and drug residues. Monitoring prevents contaminated food from reaching consumers and provides information on the state of the environment and on changes that possibly have occurred because of the environmental toxins. Quantitative analyses ensure that food does not contain controlled residues exceeding the approved maximum amounts. In addition, the device enables retrospective searching of possible contaminants such as new drugs by simply reprocessing the data without re-running of past samples.
