The effects of the corona pandemic and the consequences of digitalization with increased demand for residential construction and commercial space are further fuelled the already high consumption of land. This is contrary to the area-policy goal of reducing land use to less than 30 hectares per day by 2030 and the BauGB's space savings offer. Our classic lifestyle of center-oriented living, living and working is currently changing more than ever and creating new opportunities that have a spatial impact on the use of space and space everywhere. The goal of MORO is to investigate new land requirements in different regions of Germany to identify currently used and new space-saving planning tools in response to suburbanization, pandemic, climate crisis and digitalization. The aim is to currently evaluate and analyze the regional management of land use through regional planning and regional development as well as land use planning in model regions. The aim is to suggest improvements for existing instruments and the development of new recommendations for action. As the end product, a web platform for optimizing processes and instruments stands for space-saving regional development with good examples of instruments and processes.
