The present invitation to tender covers the execution of works to be carried out in connection with:
an extension of the Port of Esbjerg's existing freight railway tracks and sites around these.
The main features of the contract are the following works:
* Extension of the existing freight rail tracks to the east
* Establishment of handling areas and storage areas
* Establishment of space drainage
* Establishment of space lighting
* Establishment of ITS boards
* Establishment of foundation for track ramps

The main purpose of the project is the extension of the existing freight tracks on the western side of Taurusvej. The tracks will be led across Taurusvej and onto the eastern side of Taurusvej. Across Taurusvej, a lane crossing will be established, and gates will also be installed (not part of the contract). At the end of the freight line extension, a foundation will be established for the Port of Esbjerg's mobile ramps, which will make it possible for goods to run directly onto the trainset. The foundation will be established behind the new track stoppers.
In addition, handling areas (approx. 35,000 m²) will be established on both sides of the freight railway (20 metres on each side of the tracks) as well as storage areas (approx. 100,000 m²) further east. All areas are established with concrete paving stones. For the areas, space lighting and space drainage are established, including line drainage. Parts of the existing basin at Taurusvej are being filled so that it is possible to extend the freight tracks and establish the paved areas. The filling of the existing basin will be carried out in another contract, which is expected to be completed no later than early August 2023.
In addition, the Port of Esbjerg's current ISPS fence will be adapted, as parts will be dismantled and re-erected elsewhere. Likewise, in some places, both manual and automatic gates must be moved and established.
When the freight line is extended and the trains stop in the terminal, Taurusvej will be closed. Therefore, automatic gates must be established that close Taurusvej during train operations. In addition to this, IT orientation signs will be established around the roundabout at Taurusvej and Zodiakvej, showing the course of the road when Taurusvej is blocked.
Empty pipes will be established along Taurusvej for future wiring. At Virgokaj, areas are also established in concrete paving stones and space drainage is made, which is led with outlet to the harbour basin via a Downstream Defender (client delivery).
