The machine group is equipped with roller bearings. These were replaced for the first time in 2010 after commissioning. Due to the number of operating hours achieved since then, a further bearing replacement is necessary. The turbine blades and the water-wetted contour of the turbine show a great deal of wear due to the sediments and are to be replaced, revised and repaired. At the same time as the replacement of the rolling bearings and turbine blades, a major overhaul with complete dismantling of the turbine is to take place.

The entirety of the planned work is referred to as the "renewal of the turbine".
