The UKHD is planning a heart center on the grounds of the old children's hospital and the building INF 151-154. In the heart center to be newly built, all sub-disciplines of cardiac medicine are to be united under one roof. In addition, the idea of integrating a scientific research area "Informatics for Life" (I4L) was developed to realize advances in personalized heart medicine in Germany by focusing on scientific computing and evaluation in cardiovascular molecular research. The UKHD plans that the heart center building will be connected to the neighboring internal medicine, surgery and renal center buildings in terms of the campus-wide, efficient structures and logistically connected to existing structures.

The medical equipment and IT are now being advertised as part of a competitive dialogue. The aim of the procedure is the conclusion of an innovation cooperation.
