- General description: The Reichstag building (RTG) is located in the Tiergarten district of Berlin. In 1999 the building was handed over for use as a parliament building. The German Bundestag is meeting there today.
The Reichstag is part of the energy network with several parliament buildings. The cold generation for the RTG and the visitor information center (BIZ) will in future be carried out by a newly built underground refrigeration center (UKZ) in front of the RTG. The construction project “Implementation of the refrigeration concept” is therefore directly dependent on the new construction of the UKZ, which is running parallel to it.
The UKZ and the chillers installed there are not part of this contract.
Note: The Bundestag administration of the German Bundestag subjects people who want to enter the premises of the German Bundestag to a personal check. The administration of the German Bundestag reserves the right to refuse entry to people. For more information, see the "Personal check" attachment.
- User: German Bundestag;
- Building use: office building, meeting place of the German Bundestag;
- Type of construction measure: Conversion and optimization of the cooling supply during operation.
Current status in the RTG:
The following systems are currently available in the RTG for cooling:
- 1 compression chiller, air-cooled 340 kW;
- 1 absorption chiller, water-cooled 850 kW;
- Cold storage up to 1 600 kW;
- Cooling registers of central ventilation systems, which are used for free cooling of the HT cooling networks at low outside temperatures with up to 150 kW;
- Various decentralized split and VRV systems, which have been retrofitted over time to close gaps in demand;
- Small refrigeration systems that supply various cold storage facilities in the Reichstag building and are recooled via the HT cold network.
Current cooling requirement: real peak output: approx. 2,300 kW
Future cooling demand: real peak output: approx. 2 900 kW
Description of services target state in the RTG (more on this in the "Description of services" annex):
- Range of services: technical equipment, plant groups 2-4 and 8;
- Service profile: LPH 3-9 according to HOAI and special services.
Cost group 420
- Conversion of the heat distribution for the expansion of the installation space of the new cooling line (extreme installation density in the technical floors).
Cost group 430
- Dismantling and disposal of the compression chiller and absorption chiller;
- Update of the total cooling demand of the RTG with subsequent pipe network design for the energy network of the RTG and design of the consumers;
- Regular exchange with the UKZ's specialist planner with regard to the total refrigeration requirement of the RTG, requirements for the refrigeration machines and various technically necessary target values for the implementation of the refrigeration concept;
- Necessary relocation work on ventilation systems;
- Reconstruction - and partly new construction of the cable routing in the energy network of the RTG (extreme installation density in the technical floors).
Cost group 440
- Power supply for the consumers to be renewed or replaced in the RTG as well as the associated pumps, aggregates and control technology, including low-voltage cabling;
- Adaptation of the cable ducts when the starting situation changes.
Cost group 480
- Adaptation of the building automation in the RTG to the new systems in the UKZ including switch cabinets, operating equipment, connection, control etc .;
- Connection of the new consumers to the existing system and, if necessary, their adaptation.
Cost group 490 - Other measures for technical systems
- If necessary, temporary arrangements and extensive building protection are to be provided, especially in sensitive areas during the construction period. This must be agreed in advance.
- Any construction site facilities and protective measures must be taken into account.
- Estimated project costs based on the feasibility study (net) for KGR 420-490 acc.
DIN 276: 1,332,280 EUR
- Project duration: 1st quarter 2021 to approx. 2030 (direct dependence on other construction measures).
A gradual award of the services is planned. However, there is no legal claim to the transfer of all services.
