The framework agreement concerns project management and construction management across the project, which includes the establishment of directional operations at Ny Kastrup Airport Station, so that passenger trains and freight trains are operated through platforms 1 and 2, while traffic from Sweden is carried through platforms 11 and 12 and is served with the establishment of a new station, Ny Kastrup Airport Station. The framework agreement is entered into with one Consultant, who will perform the role/function of Project Manager – Construction Management.
In the coming years, A/S Øresund will carry out a rail project that focuses on ensuring the adaptation of both the runway and Copenhagen Airport Station to the traffic volume now and in the future. The project is carried out in close coordination with Banedanmark and not least Banedanmark's Signalling Programme, which at the same time implements a necessary replacement of outdated signalling systems. We call the project "Ny Kastrup Airport Station".
In order to ensure the necessary capacity expansion of the Øresund Railway around Copenhagen Airport Station, the project aims to establish facilities for directional operation at the station. Directional operation means that the individual train track is dedicated to trains running in one particular direction. With the rebuilding of the station, all trains in the direction of Copenhagen, Funen and Jutland will in the future depart from new platforms, which will be built at the tracks located north of the airport's Terminal 3. While all trains heading Malmö/Sweden will depart from the existing platforms under the airport's Terminal 3.
Project "Ny Kastrup Airport Station" has three main deliveries:
1. Establishment of two new platforms including necessary adjustment of tracks and switches.
2. Upgrading of existing platforms, station facilities and tunnels for freight train operation.
3. Establishment of an integrated transfer solution between Copenhagen Airport's terminal 3 and the new platforms in cooperation with Copenhagen Airports A/S.
Construction work will begin in 2023. Until then, the final project will be designed together with important partners such as BaneDanmark and Copenhagen Airports A/S. The project is expected to be ready for commissioning in 2025.
