The Cologne Fire Brigade - Amt für Feuerschutz, Rettungsdienst und Bevölkerungsschutz (Amt 37) operates an integrated control center for fire-fighting, preserving and protecting special assets for civil protection and medical and technical rescue services (ILS). In addition to the main control center (HLS) of the integrated control center there is an emergency control center (NLS), which serves as an alternative location for the operation of the integrated control center if required (for example, failure, HLS operating restriction and capacity increase). Various fire and rescue teams (FuRW) and rescue teams (RW) are distributed over the city of Cologne, where the units and resources of the fire brigade and the rescue service are kept. In order to support the activities in the Integrated Control Center, various IT systems are being operated at the aforementioned locations, the modernization and renewal of which will be carried out as part of the "Control Center 2020" project (LtS 2020).
The IT trades include the IT Platform (ITP), the WAL, the Communication System (KMS) and the Operations Management System (ELS).
