There are regularly 7 buildings on the site (see map: 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106 and 135), which are used to accommodate up to 250 refugees.
In exceptional cases (e.g. outbreak of a pandemic, wave of refugees, etc.), it is possible that 8 additional buildings with up to 450 places (see map: 107, 108, 109, 110, 111, 112, 118 and 116) will be put into operation for a short time, so that 15 residential buildings with a total of up to 700 places will be available in complete operation.
In addition, there is an administration building with an adjoining medical wing on the site and several storage buildings and utility rooms (laundry, bicycle workshop, etc.) are in operation.
The area has an open space of approx. 74,000 m² and is separated from the rest of the outdoor area and the forest areas by a construction fence.
The guarding of the foreign residents as well as the accommodation, including the deployed personnel, will be awarded to a service company within the framework of this tender.
The care of the refugees is ensured by staff of the district of Gifhorn as well as external service providers. The staff deployed on the facility to look after the accommodated persons is on site daily (Monday-Friday) from approx. 08:00 a.m. to at least 04:30 p.m. An on-call service for the employees is being considered and, if set up, will be regulated separately.
It may sometimes happen that support from the security service is required in the evening and night hours (e.g. calling ambulances, issuing medical certificates, etc.) in order to make the processes as effective as possible.
