Engineering services according to HOAI Part 4, Section 2.
HVAC planning for the new CARE-MED (TRC III) building at Universitätsklinikum Erlangen. The interdisciplinary research building for novel AI-based evaluation technology is the last of a total of 4 novel research buildings to be built in the north of Erlangen near the Schwabachanlage. Federal funding measure under Article 91b of the Basic Law.
Eligible costs TGA M: ~€6.5 million (net)
The planning includes the following areas (LPh2 – LPh8):
- Ventilation systems (partial, full air conditioning systems) for research areas (no classic laboratory ventilation, standard slightly lower)
- Construction of district heating transfer station, heating installation and heating surfaces
- Drinking water installation / domestic hot water production, possibly service water
- E-water treatment system (for ventilation system)
- Abwasserhebeanlage
- building automation
- refrigeration systems
- Media supply/disposal of medical devices (e.g. MRI)
- Integration of drainage into a higher-level rainwater harvesting system (interface with the edge of the building)
The Free State of Bavaria, represented by the State Building Authority Erlangen – Nuremberg, intends to erect another research building, the so-called CARE-MED (TRCIII), on the north campus of the University Hospital Erlangen on the construction site between the existing buildings Translational Research Center (TRC I) in the east, the Center of Personalized Medicine and Research (CESAR/ TRC IV) in the west, the former sanatorium and nursing home (HuPflA) in the south and the Citable (TRCII) in the southeast. The new TRC III building is intended to complete the research campus.
In the immediate vicinity of the construction site, the construction sites of the Max Planck Center for Physics and Medicine (ZPM) and TRC IV are currently underway, as well as the start of construction of the TRC II construction project. Infrastructure and disposal issues are taken into account for the CARE-MED, and technology is already pre-equipped (e.g. rainwater drainage, drinking water supply, ...). In this area, there are close interfaces, especially with the civil engineering department, which is responsible for the routes in the outdoor area.
The construction of the TRC III building is planned from III/2026 to the end of IV/2028. This is a construction project for a research building in accordance with Article 91b (1) sentence 1 of the Basic Law (GG), so compliance with the deadlines is essential.
The research areas account for about 1/3 of the usable area (approx. 600 m2). The greater part of this is used for setting up sensor/analysis laboratories (treadmills, gait analyses with force plates embedded in the floor, whole-body photogrammetry, radar sensors) and laboratories with classic medical equipment such as MRI and CT. A large part of the remaining area serves as a service room area and a small part as a seminar area.
Planned usable area NUF 1-7: 1,976.5 m2
For a large part of the rooms (offices, group offices) there are no special requirements for the technology. For the new types of research rooms (gait and movement analysis), there are specifications on the part of the user or on the basis of specifications from the medical planner, especially for the ventilation and air conditioning technology. However, these are lower than in conventional laboratories. In the case of rooms with large-scale medical equipment such as MRI, manufacturer, user and medical planner specifications must be taken into account. However, the equipment and analysis devices are planned by a separate medical planner. Some of the measuring devices react sensitively to vibrations, which is why the building physicist can also place demands on the central devices.
AWG
Drinking water network for normal tapping points (kitchenettes, toilets) and individual patient showers. Separation system rainwater and dirty water. Water treatment for the ventilation systems. Direct discharge of rainwater via an infiltration system (already under construction) into the adjacent Schwabach. No accumulation of special waste water (no radionuclides, laboratory wastewater, ...).
WVA
The plan is to use district heating from ESTW (Stadtwerke Erlangen). The radiators must be designed for possible future temperature reductions in the flow temperatures. Where necessary, in hygienic design.
HVAC/COLD
Air conditioning of the motion analysis laboratories and other research rooms or evaluation rooms with increased PC loads.
Refrigeration with future-proof refrigerant for air conditioning systems and cooling water (e.g. MRI).
Under certain circumstances, the specifications of the building physicist for the purpose of vibrations of the central devices must be taken into account (installation location, acoustic decoupling) in order not to influence the measurements of the analysis devices and sensors (recording/analysis, movement of the patients).
NSA
Media supply/disposal for medical devices (e.g. helium, cooling water).
GO
The new technical systems to be built will be equipped with automation systems with a connection to a higher-level BMS. The planning is carried out in accordance with the GA (FAU/UKER) guideline.
