The purpose of this framework agreement is the supply of "penetrators", the interface connections between high and low pressure environments. Two types of penetrators are concerned: "DOM" penetrators for optical modules and "BM" penetrators for module bases on behalf of the Marseille Particle Physics Center (CPPM) - UMR7346 of the CNRS.
Each indenter is composed of an external housing and a bushing resistant to water pressure. The case, to be made of grade 5 titanium, is based on a patented KM3NeT design. The bushing, which must be designed by the holder in order to be compatible with the box, must accommodate electrical and optical conductors:
1. DOM penetrators:
-Optical fiber (type: single-mode, 250 μm, compliant with ITU-T Recommendation G.657.B3); the fiber must be protected at the outlet on each side of the bushing using a fixed protective hose of type HYTREL 900 μm or equivalent, black color, with a minimum length of 45+/-5mm (high pressure side) and 130+/-10mm (low pressure side); minimum length of the fiber on each side of the crossing: 1.6m; the fiber must also be protected on each side of the bushing by a temporary pipe of type HYTREL 900 μm or equivalent, transparent, minimum length 1200+/-300mm, attached to the fixed pipe with Scotch kapton.
- Two electrical wires; size: 18 or 20 AWG; Sheathed colors: black and red; Minimum length of wires on both sides of the indenter: 0.5m
2. BM penetrators:
- A total of 24 optical fibers (type: single-mode, 250 μm, compliant with ITU-T Recommendation G.657.B3); the fibers, with a minimum length of 1.5m each side of the crossing, will be grouped in two ribbons of 12 fibers; the two ribbons on the low pressure side will be finished with a connector "SENKO 12 FIBER MPO+ FEMALE MICRO LATCH LOW LOSS SINGLE MODE"
- Two electrical wires; size: 18 or 20 AWG; Sheathed colors: black and red; Minimum wire length: 2.0m (low pressure side), 1.0m (high pressure side).
The insertion loss of each individual fiber in each version of the indenter will be less than 0.25 dB at 1550 nm.
