The Integration Act is part of a larger integration reform, with emphasis on reforming and strengthening the policies for qualifying newly arrived refugees and immigrants for the Norwegian labour market. The law regulates some new areas and measures.

The Ministry would like to follow-up these areas and measures, particularly in the first years after the law came into force, in order to get knowledge of whether the implementation is being carried out in accordance with the regulation and intentions for the integration reform, or whether there is a need for any adjustments.

An interim report is to be prepared by the end of week 50, 2021. A final report is to be prepared by the end of week 50, 2022. The assignment is comprehensive and consists of several different areas. The contracting authority can assess whether it is appropriate to split up the two deliveries into one or more reports.

This includes, amongst other things, the county's assignments in the integration area, the implementation of a short programme for participants in the introduction programme with minimum education at sixth form level from before, and that 16 and 17 year olds are no longer covered by the law.
