Skjåk Municipality has an existing sports centre with a multi-purpose hall and swimming pool, as well as joint changing rooms, which was constructed from 1978-1980 (Skjåkhallen). The site is located in the municipal centre Bismo, next to an outdoor sports centre with football pitches and an athletics track, and, in addition has Skjåk Primary and Secondary School and Bismo Nursery in the immediate vicinity. The centre has not had major upgrades or changes since it was constructed, other than ongoing maintenance. Due to this, the centre will now have a major upgrade and expansion, split between two construction stages. The first construction stage, that this contract is for, comprises the renovation of the existing swimming pool, as well as the construction of an extension with a new teaching pool. In addition the existing middle building with changing rooms will be demolished, and a new middle building with changing rooms will be constructed for both the swimming pool and sports centre. The existing basement is to be kept with stores and technical functions.
