The GGS Richterich is to be expanded to meet the higher demand for primary school places and to enable a three-tier system in the future.
The container construction in the schoolyard is obsolete and has to be replaced spatially.
In addition, the current cafeteria area is too small and is to be expanded in this context.
During the construction period, interim areas must be created for school operations.
The existing building is to be expanded in the northern area by a two-storey extension and the extension of the break hall.
The courtyard situation between the bars (north of the break hall) is used to build a new building for the canteen, in which the multifunctional dining room with approx. 130 square meters will be planned in the future. The ground-floor classroom to the northeast is converted into a kitchen. Due to the freed up area between the container construction and the protected maple, the delivery is newly created.
On the upper floor above the new canteen, two classrooms with approx. 65 sqm each as well as a group room with 14 sqm and a new hourly toilet are planned. Above the old toilet facilities and the break hall, additional rooms are planned, the use and size of which are still variable and can be adapted as required.
The escape situation, which is not optimally solved in the existing building, is structurally solved much better by a necessary corridor on the first floor. As a result, the rooms used for school operations on the upper floor are connected to each other and the evacuation can take place via the 2 already existing staircases.
The old toilet next to the eastern staircase has to give way in favor of a new elevator according to §49 LBO NRW, with which the entire school building (except the self-sufficient OGS building) can be accessed in the future. The location of the elevator next to the eastern staircase requires a new solution to create another escape route. External stairs create a direct connection from the stair platform to the outside.
Due to the planned extension of the break hall with ancillary rooms, the basement must be undertaken, and provided with supports and new foundations. Furthermore, the ground floor ceiling is not sufficiently load-bearing and must be upgraded. In the further course of planning, it must be examined to what extent it makes sense to install a new ceiling above the existing ceiling, as a ground-level transition on the upper floor between the old and the new building must be achieved urgently.
The skylights of the toilet facility must be replaced by a ventilation system.
In order to be able to adapt the rooms on the upper floor to the existing rooms, this is at the expense of the ceiling height in the dining room. This will probably only have a clear height of 3.0 m.
Finally, the previously used kitchen is to be converted into two offices (OGS management and meeting room) after completion of the new canteen with kitchen.
Further information on the alternative solution and evaluation, interim solution, asbestos removal, monument protection, fire protection, accessibility, technical installation and sustainability aspects as well as detailed information on the existing structure and the task are presented in the appendix "Announcement GGS Richterich".
