The overall project "Expansion of WDK from the Rhine to Marl" includes the expansion of the Wesel-Datteln Canal from km 0 to km 40.
The expansion is intended to increase capacity and capacity utilization and enable continuous, unrestricted traffic of container ships with two container layers.
For this purpose, a clear clearance height of the bridges at 5.25m above the upper limit water level (GWo) must be established throughout. Likewise, the existing culverts and bridges must be adapted to a canal floor dug by 70cm.
In this contract, the necessary preliminary investigation as well as optionally the establishment of the necessary design HU construction and the approval planning of the bridges and culverts are awarded as a basis for the replanning of the objects in the area concerned.

- Object planning of the traffic facilities HOAI §47 Lph 1-4 (3 and 4 optional)
- 13 culverts which are processed in the following HOAI service phases
- Object planning of the civil engineering structure HOAI §43 Lph 1-4 (3 and 4 optional)
- Tragwerksplanung HOAI §51 Lph 2
- 15 bridges in which the stability for an excavation of the canal floor by 70cm is tested as part of the investigation of canal expansion variants
- 5 culverts in which the stability for an excavation of the canal floor by 70cm is tested as part of the investigation of sewer expansion variants
