Details of the construction project
- General description
The German Consulate General Kolkata, India is housed in a federally owned building with outbuildings at 1 Hastings Park Road, Alipore.
The main building with outbuildings from the time of construction was built in 1920 in the typical local colonial style and acquired by the Foreign Office in 1971. Around 2010, the property was expanded by the Federal Foreign Office to include an external guard and a passport and visa office with a personnel lock. Furthermore, there is a generator house for the emergency power generator, a carport and other parking spaces, a covered facility for water treatment and covered storage facilities on the property. The property (approx. 6,500 m²) is bordered by a circumferential enclosure wall with openings on Hastings Road (east side) for vehicle lock / outside guard and an opening on Judges Court Road (south side) as a personal entrance to the passport and visa office.
The open space of the property is characterized by a tropical garden with shady trees. Particularly noteworthy here is the possibility of being able to use the garden in a variety of ways for events. According to local knowledge, the building is considered worthy of protection in terms of monument protection.
Although continuous building maintenance is carried out by the foreign mission, the property is in need of renovation. The buildings have a wide range of deficiencies to varying degrees and in some cases do not meet the requirements for material safety and the functional needs of the user. There is a particular need for renovation with regard to structural defects, technical equipment, local legal energy requirements, fire protection and accessibility.
For this purpose, the contractor must provide construction-related investigations and conceptual services that are necessary to be able to assess the feasibility of a possible general renovation from a construction and economic point of view. This includes, among other things, concepts for the functional improvement of the law firm, the renewal and expansion of the technical facilities and the use of renewable energies. Furthermore, in the form of feasibility studies, the option
a temporary temporary temporary accommodation of the law firm (e.g. in modular construction) on the property during a general renovation.
