New installation of the power plant on the low-voltage side
and the transfer station at the Ruhrallee depot in Essen
On behalf of the city, Ruhrbahn GmbH ensures the mobility of citizens and connects the individual districts by bus, subway and tram. It is a member of the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr. One of the tasks is in the area of maintenance and new construction of the infrastructure for buses and trams. This applies both to the route networks in the urban area of Essen and Mülheim as well as to the associated structures, depots, administrative buildings and a large number of smaller properties.
Ruhrbahn GmbH intends to gradually convert its entire bus fleet to hydrogen-powered vehicles. The first hydrogen-powered vehicles are expected to arrive in early 2024. Until then, a new energy centre is to be built at the Ruhrallee depot, among other things.
