The Norwegian Embassy embassy in Dar-es-Salaam invites interested parties to participate in an open tender contest for technical consultancy assistance for the Rural Energy Agency (REA) in Tanzania for the Rural Electrification Densification Programme phase 2A (REDP 2A).
REDP targets the electrification of rural areas in Tanzania. The consultant will assist REA with technical assistance in the implementation and follow-up of REDP 2A.
The Norwegian embassy in Dar-es-Salaam invites interested parties to participate in an open tender contest for technical consultancy assistance for the Rural Energy Agency (REA) in Tanzania for the Rural Electrification Densification Programme phase 2A (REDP 2A).
A grant agreement was signed in April 2013 between Norway and Tanzania for financial support for the Rural Energy Fund. The goal of the grant agreement is increased access to modern energy services rural areas in mainland Tanzania, for sustainable socio-economic development and fighting poverty. The grant makes up NOK 700 000 000 over the course of the planned period 2013 - 2023.
REDP targets the electrification of rural areas in Tanzania. REA has split REDP into different rounds/phases phase 1, phase 2 (A+B), and phase 3. This tender contest is for phase 2A.
REDP 2A will be implemented in nine regions in mainland Tanzania, split into six areas, with a total of 1103 villages/hamlets:
• Area 1: The Dodoma region (349 hamlets);
• Area 2: The Singida and Tabora regions (201 hamlets);
• Area 3: The Pwani and Tanga region (210 hamlets);
• Area 4: The Kilimanjaro region (71 hamlets);
• Area 5: The Mbeya region (189 hamlets);
• Area 6: The Mwanza and Shinyanga regions (83 hamlets).
Construction contracts have been signed between REA and contractors for the six areas. The consultant will assist REA with technical assistance for the implementation and follow-up of REDÅ 2A, including inspecting and monitoring the project implementation.
