The crematorium at Alfaset was constructed in 2009. The crematorium does not have satisfactory capacity for an increasing number of cremations. In addition it does not provide an optimum working environment nor fulfil government environmental emission requirements.

The site has 4 crematorium ovens. After 10 years of operation, renovation is now required at the site. The complete flue gas system, including flue gas cooler, fabric filters and filters of carbon bed, id-fans and channels must be replaced with a new complete and separate flue gas cooling and cleaning line for each of the four crematoriums. The crematorium's functionality still works after 10 years of operation, but the fireproof lining must be replaced and is part of the renovation. The coffin insertion systems are in good condition, but the hydraulics (pump and valve system) must be replaced with 4 new independent systems.
