The city of Mülheim an der Ruhr is awarding planning services for the partial demolition, renovation and new construction. The subject of this procedure is structural engineering services for the construction project "Sporthalle Lehnerstraße - ID276 - Schulzentrum Saarn.

The city of Mülheim an der Ruhr, as the owner of the existing 3-fold sports hall in the Saarn school centre, intends to renovate it in accordance with the current structural, energy and fire protection requirements.

The campus of the school center on Lehnerstraße is divided by the building ensemble of the Saarn Comprehensive School, the vocational college and the canteen. The existing 3-fold sports hall in the southern part of the campus forms the end of the school center.

The sports hall, which was planned and built in 1982 and 1983, not only provides the framework for school sports on its total gross floor area of approx. 2,180 m2, but is also the home venue of the indoor hockey Bundesliga club HTC Uhlenhorst as a meeting place (approved special building), with a total of approx. 400 grandstand seats. Also due to the success of the local HTC Uhlenhorst throughout Germany and Europe, the location established itself and manifested its supra-regional importance for sporting events.
